IOM Azerbaijan continues provision of direct assistance for the victims of trafficking and individuals vulnerable to trafficking
Baku - IOM Azerbaijan conducted a training on “Provision of basic business skills” for victims of trafficking (VoT) and potential victims between 18 - 19 November 2019 in Ganja with the participation of selected 20 participants among VoTs and potential victims vulnerable to trafficking, affiliated with the TAMAS Regional Development PU.
During the training organized within the “Addressing the needs of victims of trafficking in Azerbaijan through provision of direct assistance and shelter facilities upgrade” project the participants were instructed on on basic “business” notions, such as “introduction to the concept of business”, “investment”, “marketing”, “drafting of business plan” and given directions on how to prepare and draft “business plans” based on their business ideas, skills, abilities and interests.
Participants drafted their business plans and submitted to the trainer. Following the training, the trainer is expected to identify potential plans and select those that will be granted for further implementation. After which grants will be assigned to participants to cover the purchase of equipment and start-up raw materials to support their individually tailored business plans, and ultimately their reintegration into society.In general, the project seeks to assist the Government of Azerbaijan and the civil society in combating trafficking in human beings by improving the protection of VoTs and individuals vulnerable to trafficking through the provision of direct assistance and VoTs shelter upgrade.
