IOM Azerbaijan hosts third online Steering Committee Meeting of the project titled “Strengthening Readmission Management in Azerbaijan”
Baku - “In connection to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 agenda, particularly to SDG 16 peace, justice, strong institutions and 17 partnership for the goals, and in line with the Global Compact on Migration, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Azerbaijan supports the government in the deployment of ICT solutions for increased effectiveness in the migration management. For this purpose, an electronic Readmission Case Management System (RCMS) is being introduced under the “Strengthening Readmission Management in Azerbaijan” project funded by the European Union (EU).
The project implementation progress is closely monitored by the Steering Committee convening project partners – the State Migration Service and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, IOM Azerbaijan, IOM Regional Office in Brussels, EU Delegation to Azerbaijan – for quarterly meetings. The third such Steering Committee meeting was held in an online format on 30 April 2021.
The meeting participants reviewed current and planned project activities, and mainly requirement gathering that would allow to customize the Model RCMS, the product developed by IOM, to the needs and requirements of Azerbaijan. Positive progress was made and now the business analysts are collecting and analyzing requirements determined by the EU-Azerbaijan Readmission Agreement, national legislation, international and interagency working arrangements, and by the existing ICT infrastructure.
The Steering Committee members approved the results achieved by the past project activities and set goals for the three-month period before the next Steering Committee meeting to be organized at the end of July 2021.”
