Baku - On 31 January 2020, Vladimir Gjorgjiev, the Chief of IOM Mission to Azerbaijan met and greeted Kentaro Hasa and Kany Kunito, the staff members at Center for International Education and Cooperation of Kwansei Gakuin University (Japan) at Mission’s office.

Mr. Gjorgjiev gave valuable information to the guests about IOM history, principles, its global and local projects, role of the IOM in international, regional, and country level affairs, achievements, international and regional migration processes.

Guests gave a sufficient information about the Kwansei Gakuin University International Student Volunteers initiative which comprises two programs: the United Nations Student Volunteers program, and the International Cooperation program. Based on an agreement with United Nations Volunteers (UNV), KGU began sending student volunteers to various developing countries since 2004, and since then, about 70 students have been dispatched to developing countries thus far.

One of those UN Volunteers from KGU is Daisuke Endo. He currently works at UN IOM Mission to Azerbaijan. During the meeting the guests have an opportunity to ask questions Mr. Vladimir Gjorgjiyev regarding their university volunteer’s work at IOM Mission.
