The Representative of IOM Attended the Meeting of the UN Committee
Baku - On 13 September 2019, the Government of Azerbaijan and the United Nations Office of the High Commission of Human Rights organized a meeting of the UN Committee on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families entitled "Ways of solving main problems of migrant workers amid global crises in the changing world”.
IOM Mission in Azerbaijan was represented at the meeting where high-level officials of the government such as Mr. Sahil Babayev, the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population, Ms. Elmira Suleymanova, the Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. Vusal Huseynov, head of the State Migration Committee and also Mr. Can Unver, Acting Chairman of the UN Committee on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families were attended by Ms Marija Nikolovska, a programme officer of IOM Azerbaijan.
Government officials in their speech emphasized the cooperation with IOM and appreciated the contribution of the Mission to the capacity building to the relevant state bodies of Azerbaijan.
