Representatives of the IOM Azerbaijan visited the Azerbaijan State Migration Service
Baku - On 22 May 2020, Vladimir Gjorgjiev, IOM Azerbaijan Chief of Mission met with Vusal Huseynov, the Chief of the State Migration Service.
The main aim of the meeting was to discuss the perspectives of cooperation within a new project “Strengthening Readmission Management in Azerbaijan” funded by EURCAP facility, as well to provide updates of the current work and collaboration between two agencies.
Welcoming the guests, Vusal Huseynov, the Chief of the Service welcomed this important project and he looks forward to further support in proactive manner and coordination. In addition Mr. Huseynov spoke about the innovations and projects implemented by the State Migration Service in relevance to COVID19, as well as the readiness of the expansion of the training center to regional level on migration management. Mr. Huseynov showed the newly renovated office space that will be used for this training center.
Talking about projects implemented within the framework of cooperation between the Service and IOM to strengthen the capacity of migration management and increase the level of services Vladimir Gjorgjiev congratulated the State Migration Service for their positive role during the COVID 19 in managing the visa extensions for the migrants in Azerbaijan as well for the assistance provided. He expressed confidence that the cooperation would continue successfully in the framework of new forthcoming projects.
The sides also exchanged views on the current cooperation, as well as issues of mutual interest have also been discussed during the meeting.
