Students Discover International Organization for Migration in Azerbaijan
Baku - On 6 May 2019 Mr. Vladimir Gjorgjiev, the Chief of UN IOM Mission in Azerbaijan had a brief presention to 30 students within the framework of the project “Discover the UN by learning it”, which was organized by Azerbaijan Student Organizations’ Union (ASYOU) with financial support of the Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In his presentation Mr. Gjorgjiev gave valuable information to the students about IOM history, principles, its global projects, role of the IOM in international, regional, and country level affairs, achievements, international and reginal migration processes, and the value of the migrants potentials and their contribution to the society. The students showed great interest in the locally implemented projects of IOM Azerbaijan Mission such us legislation development, border management, prevention of irregular migration, community development, return and reintegration of migrants, movement assistance, rehabilitation of subterranean water systems called “Chaheriz”, and etc.
At the end of the presentation Mr. Vladimir Gjorgjiyev answered the participants questions.
