On 1 February 2011, IOM started implementing the 12-month project “Support to Strengthening Human Resources Capacity of Nakhchivan State Border Service Regiment”.
Building a functional, effective and integrated system of border management in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) is a precondition for the full implementation of the national Integrated Border Management (IBM) strategy in Azerbaijan, establishment of which requires sophisticated, highly skilled and highly trained staff.
This project aims to (a) bring the Nakhchivan Border Guards Training Centre (NBGTC) to full operational capability; (b) establish a centralized document examination centre; (c) provide specialized trainings to the Nahkchivan State Border Service Regiment (NSBSR) posted border guards charged with the border control and protection. Furthermore, the project will enhance orderly passage of legitimate persons and goods across the State borders while preventing cross border crimes.
The project is funded by IOM’s 1035 Facility.
