The Chief of IOM Azerbaijan held online presentation
Baku - On 29 April 2020 Mr. Vladimir Gjorgjiev, the Chief of UN IOM Mission in Azerbaijan had an online presentation for members of Azerbaijani Diaspora Youth.
In his presentation Mr. Gjorgjiev gave valuable information to the participants about IOM history, principles, its global projects, international, regional migration processes, role of the IOM Azerbaijan at country level affairs during the COVID-19 outbreak, and the value of the migrants potentials and their contribution to the society.
Mr. Gjorgjiev also talked about the IOM’s positive collaboration with the Azerbaijan government bodies and its assistance on legislation development, strategy, awareness-raising, border management, community development, return and reintegration, fighting against human trafficking, diaspora mapping, rehabilitation of subterranean water systems called “Chaheriz”, and etc. within the projects implemented in Azerbaijan since 1996.
During the online presentation which was managed in an interactive Q&A manner with the participants involved throughout the whole session, the Chief of Mission emphasized the potential of skilled members of Azerbaijan diaspora as human capital with access to investment, knowledge and innovations that can further strengthen the social and economic development in Azerbaijan.
