The Chief of IOM Azerbaijan meets the Ombudsman
Baku - On 19 September 2022, a bilateral coordination meeting between the Ombudsperson Apparatus and IOM Azerbaijan was held at the office of the Human Rights Commissioner.
During the meeting, the expansion of effective cooperation relations between organizations in the field of migration and the determination of joint action directions was discussed.
The Ombudsman Ms. Sabina Aliyeva, noted that ensuring the rights of migrants and their family members, legalizing their status, and continuous integration are always taken into account. She said that many issues have been resolved as a result of the measures taken to effectively protect the education, labor, pension, health protection, and other rights of these persons, and to strengthen their social support.
Vladimir Gjorgjiev, the Chief of the IOM Mission to Azerbaijan highlighted the importance of coordinating joint efforts in the field of protecting human rights, combating illegal migration, and preventing human trafficking.
At the meeting, it was also agreed on the preparation of video clips for social media, booklets, and other areas of joint activities in the field of protection of migrants' rights. At the same time, the organization of interactive meetings, trainings, as well as other issues of mutual interest regarding ensuring the rights of migrants in accordance with national and international legal norms were discussed.
