IOM Azerbaijan organized an introductory meeting on the Migration Governance Indicators
Baku - On 8 December 2022, IOM Azerbaijan, jointly with MGI Team of IOM Headquarters organized an online introductory meeting to brief the relevant Government Agencies about the Migration Governance Indicators process, key steps, and further stages of the review process. The meeting was critical in terms of discussing and coming to conclusion about country-specific indicators and data collection process in Azerbaijan for MGI review purposes.
Created in 2016 by IOM, the Migration Governance Indicators (MGI) programme is a tool that supports governments in taking stock of the comprehensiveness of their migration policies, as well as in identifying gaps and areas that could be strengthened. The MGI framework is aligned with the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration as the indicators can be mapped out against all the 23 objectives of the Compact. Governments and other relevant stakeholders can use the MGI in the implementation, follow-up, and review of progress towards the achievement of Global Compact objectives.
