IOM Azerbaijan organized a training for youth workers in Shirvan
Baku - Under the ‘Public Action for Resilience’ (PAR) Activity, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), IOM Azerbaijan organized capacity building training sessions on preventing violent extremism in close coordination with Youth Houses. The training sessions, designed for youth workers and those who come into contact with young people (youth (information) workers, teachers, social workers, youth organisations, etc.), took place in Shirvan Youth House on November 26 in Shirvan city, and on November 28 in Ganja city. The training sessions were facilitated by Imre Simon and Simon Therere, the trainers of the European Youth Information and Counselling Agency (ERYICA), author of special toolkit “Liaisons: A toolkit for preventing violent extremism through youth information”, which has been translated into Azerbaijani and published under the project.
In addition to theoretical introduction on violent extremism, radicalization, its classification the training sessions were based on practical tools to improve certain skills of youth. The group activities included topics such as self-respect and self-realization; diversity and respect – stereotypes, discrimination; and critical thinking.
