IOM Azerbaijan Successfully Completed a Two-Day Training for the Service Providers Assisting Victims of Trafficking
Baku - On 5-6 July 2022, IOM Azerbaijan organized General Safety, Security and Emergency Training for the service providers assisting victims of trafficking and potential victims of trafficking at the shelters and rehabilitation centers in Baku, Sumgait and Ganja within the “Counter-Trafficking in Persons Activity” Project, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID/Azerbaijan).
The training was attended by 22 service providers from the shelters operating under MIA, NGOs, and Victim Assistance Center operating under Social Services Agency. In order to further strengthen the capacities of shelter’s staff the training course was designed to equip attendees with the knowledge, skill, and competence to recognize and maintain good health and safety practices in the shelters. During the training participants gained theoretical and practical knowledge on topics such as fire safety, first aid, evacuation procedures, environmental management, electrical safety, dangerous behaviors and measures to be taken.
USAID’s Countering Trafficking in Persons Activity, implemented by IOM, assists the Government of Azerbaijan and NGOs to further improve Azerbaijan's effectiveness in preventing and combating trafficking in persons and forced labor as well as addressing gender-based violence. This includes technical and financial support to civil society organizations operating shelters that assist potential and actual victims of trafficking and forced labor.
