Baku - The head of the International Organization for Migration in Azerbaijan Mr. Vladimir Gjorgjiev and the Ambassador of the Netherlands (Embassy of the Netherlands in Azerbaijan) in the Azerbaijan Mr. Onno Kerves and Deputy Head of Mission Ms Zumreta Jahic Ms Zumreta Jahic (Yahich) met with Niyazi Bayramov, head of the Executive Power of Ganja. During the meeting, the guests informed in detail about the project implemented by the IOM with the financial support of the Netherlands Embassy “Addressing the Needs of Victims of Trafficking in Azerbaijan Through Provision of Direct Assistance and Shelter Facilities Upgrade".

The main objective of this project is to improve the protection of victims trafficking in Azerbaijan by enhancing the shelter capacity of the TAMAS Regional Development Public Union (PU) which contribute towards strengthened care and support interventions to victims of trafficking (VoTs) and individuals vulnerable to trafficking as well as their families. In connection with this, a number of projetc activities are held in the region along with the capital.

The guests expressed their gratitude to Niyazi Bayramov for their support in the work carried out in the regional public association "Tamas" located in Ganja.

Within the framework of the project, the IOM Azerbaijan conducted a training on “Provision of basic business skills” for victims of trafficking (VoT) and potential victims of trafficking in Ganja with the participation of selected 20 participants among VoTs and potential victims vulnerable to trafficking, affiliated with the TAMAS Regional Development PU. Following the training, participants presented their business plans and submitted them for evaluation. Subsequently, the grantees who have completed the training have been given grants tailored to their individual needs in creation of a small business.

Having met with some of the beneficiaries who have already received equipment for their businesses, the guests wished them success and prosper in their future business work.
