Baku - Advance Passenger Information (API) and Passenger Name Record (PNR) systems make travel safer and easier for all. To assist the Government in establishing such systems in a coordinated and collaborative manner, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) and the UK Border Force held a series of joint events. These include a high-level quarterly meeting held on 4 February at the State Customs Committee.

During the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee Javad Gasimov said that innovative reforms have been implemented in the customs system, a modern and new structure has been created as a result of these reforms.

Vladimir Gjorgjiev, the Chief of the Mission of the International Organization for Migration in Azerbaijan, Simon Deynan, an expert of the United Nations Office on Terrorism, Jane Woolley, Regional Head of the Hunter Project of the UK Border Force introduced API and PNR Systems. They highly appreciated the establishment of the working group and the steps taken by the SCC in this direction. They also expressed their readiness to provide the necessary support for the system to be implemented soon in Azerbaijan.

At the end, the exchange of views was held, opinions and suggestions were provided, and questions of experts were answered.
