A meeting with members of the Public Council under the State Migration Service was held at the IOM Baku Office
Baku - On 27 December 2019, Mr. Vladimir Gjorgjiev, the Chief of IOM Mission to Azerbaijan met with members of the Public Council operating under the State Migration Service.
Welcoming the guests, Gorgjiev said that he was aware of the effective and useful activity of the Public Council in the field of public control to improve the service quality. He further expressed confidence that this first meeting would give the opportunity to exchange views and lay the foundation for future fruitful cooperation.
Speaking about the work done on the establishment of the Migrant Network in the country and Training Center under the State Migration Service, Mr. Vladimir Gjorgjiev called on Council members to take active part in these initiatives.
Speaking on behalf of the members of the Public Council, Azer Allahveranov, the chairman of the council, told about the work done by the organization, which includes the chairmen of a number of local NGOs. Noting that the council covers more than 100 local public organizations, Allahveranov said the organization is interested in close cooperation with the IOM.
As a result of the discussions, the parties decided to submit proposals for cooperation at the January meeting next year.
The parties noted that they are interested in further mutual cooperation on the topics discussed during the meeting.
