Officials of IOM Azerbaijan meet the Chairman of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs
Baku - On 29 September 2022, Rovshan Rzayev, Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs, met with Vladimir Gjorgjiev, the Chief of IOM Mission to Azerbaijan, and Ertuze Metehan Temurcin, Senior Emergency & Preparedness Officer from the IOM Headquarters in Geneva.
During the meeting, the expansion of effective cooperation relations between organizations and the determination of joint action directions was discussed.
Rovshan Rzayev, gave information about the main directions of the state policy in the field of work with refugees and IDPs in the country and stated that solving the problems of refugees and IDPs occupies an important place among the priorities of the social policy line of the country's leadership, including demining priority.
The Chairman of the Committee said that international organizations, including the IOM, provided assistance to the country in solving the problems of refugees and IDPs, implemented various humanitarian projects, and expressed that cooperation in this field will be continued during the IDPs return, and support should be provided for sustainable settlement and employment in the liberated areas.
IOM officials informed officials about current activities with IDPs, and the directions for cooperation related to solving displacement, refugee, and migration issues. It was brought to attention that the IOM currently pays special attention to the assessment of the needs of IDPs in the country, and an expert in the relevant field has been sent for this purpose and will conduct the necessary analyses and prepare recommendations.
At the meeting, issues of mutual interest were discussed, and sincere ideas were exchanged for the expansion of the cooperation.
