Baku - On 23 October 2019, Ms. Szabados Argentina the Regional Director of UN IOM’s Regional Office in Vienna for Southeastern Europe, Eastern Europe and Central Asia and Vladimir Gjorgjiev, IOM Azerbaijan Chief of Mission met with Mr. Fuad Muradov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan State Committee for Work with Diaspora.

The Chairman of the Committee informed the guests about the activities of the Organization, large-scale projects implemented by the Committee and spoke about the geography of Azerbaijanis spread around the world.

Argentina Szabados expressed her satisfaction with the current level of cooperation between two Organizations, emphasizing the State Committee contribution to the diaspora mapping, and the realization of the Diaspora Forum which will be held in Baku in 2020.Ms Szabados said that the Memorandum of Understanding between the IOM, UN Habitat and Diaspora Committee which is planned to be signed in December in Geneva would raise cooperation between them to a qualitatively new level.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the issues of diaspora and migration and discussed the issues of integration during the settlement. The representatives voiced their suggestions on the prospects of cooperation between the two organizations and underlined the importance of joint projects.
