UN Azerbaijan Country Team and the Government of Azerbaijan concluded a new Cooperation Framework agreement
Baku - On 1 March 2021, the United Nations (UN) Country Team and the Government of Azerbaijan have signed the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) – a new cooperation document for a period from 2021 to 2025.
UN IOM Azerbaijan has made a significant contribution to the collective preparation of the UNSDCF, which identifies four priority areas for partnership: inclusive growth that reduces vulnerability and builds resilience; stronger institutions for better public and social services delivery; protecting the environment and addressing climate change, and achieving a gender-equitable society that empowers women and girls.
Ghulam Isaczai, the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan highlighted the people-centric approach to cooperation, at a time Azerbaijan has started addressing the challenge of long-term recovery from COVID-19 and the recent conflict.
The UN Country Team continues working closely with the government to address the socio-economic fallout of the pandemic and recovery needs in conflict-affected areas.
The UNSDCF is the fifth UN-Azerbaijan cooperation framework and is based on an analysis of Azerbaijan’s progress towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The implementation of the Cooperation Framework puts the UN development system reform into practice, emphasizing transparency, accountability, and joint action in the delivery of all development results.
